Team Websmart Media rides the Etape Caledoniaposted on 21 May 2011 | posted in CustomersWith 5000 participants, the Etape Caledonia is the largest closed road sportive in the UK. The ride covers 81 miles of Highland Perthshire countryside and raises money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This years event took place on Sunday 15th May, and was completed for the first time by Myles Bax (pictured), riding for local team Web Smart Media. Myles finished in an impressive 4 hours and 7 minutes, and had this to say: ![]() 'Although I secretly wanted to break the 4 hour barrier, overall I am pretty happy with my time given it was my first attempt at a cycle race. I made a couple of tactical errors and showed my cycling naivety at times, but I had a great King of the Mountains stage which I was pleased with – I even beat Alain Baxter (Olympic skier) up the hill, and he's a sporting idol of mine.' Myles went on to say 'I am looking forward to competing in the Etape again and must thank http://www.websmartmedia.co.uk for all their support. I look forward to wearing my Team Web Smart Media Jersey in the future' ![]() Director of Web Smart Media, Marius Bezuidenhout, added, 'I thought the day of the Etape was fantastic – a great atmosphere all along the route and I was particularly pleased to see the business represented so strongly in the race. Perhaps next year you will see a larger squad riding for Web Smart Media.' When pressed though, Marius refused to confirm that he himself would be donning the white jersey for Team Web Smart Media in 2012, despite rumours currently circulating, that he is already secretly in training.
