Following an horrific accident last year, in which he suffered a broken spine and pelvis, Simon Richardson MBE, a successful paralympic cyclist was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Cardiff.

After a remarkable recovery Simon is now back on his bike and dedicating his cycling to raising funds for the Simonstrong Campaign, to say thank you to the pilots, doctors and paramedics whose work saves countless lives across the UK.

The Simonstrong Campaign invites cyclists of varying ability to take part in one of a series of 'cycle trackathon" events taking place around the UK in 2012. And the challenge set for these events is to complete a combined mileage in excess of 10,000 and raise £10,000.

Friday 15th June 2012, sees Newport Velodrome host a 10 hour overnight trackathon starting at 10pm. Target mileage for this event is 1700.
